Colt M1911(A1): "Designed by a genius (John Moses Browning) to be used by idiots." This single-action, semi-automatic handgun was the US Army standard-issue sidearm from 1911 to 1986. Introduced in .45 ACP, variants have been made in almost every handgun caliber, and versions of the gun from inexpensive low-end models to custom pistols remain extremely popular. The standard overall size of this design is 8.25".
